SASM certification exam is not a very difficult exam to pass provided you have taken the preparatory course and grasped whatever is taught in the course well because you only need to apply what you have learned during the course in the exam.
Now coming to the SAFe Advanced Scrum Master certification exam pattern, the SASM exam is for two hours (120 minutes). You have to answer 60 multiple-choice questions (MCQs) during this period. These MCQs will be based on what you have learned during the two-day course that you attended before taking the exam. The exam fee for the first attempt is included in the course fee and you don't need to pay anything extra to take the exam if you take the exam within 30 days of completing the SASM course. You must complete the exam in one go.
The SASM exam is in the English language and is designed to test the skill and knowledge required for this role. Once you have completed the course and are ready to take the exam, you just have to log in to the SAFe community platform with the login credentials provided by Scaled Agile Inc. (you will receive a welcome e-mail from Scaled Agile Inc. containing the login details once you have completed the two-day training), and then you can access the exam on the community platform. The SASM exam is a closed book web-based exam where no outside assistance is provided. Once you complete the exam just click on the submit button provided there. On submitting the exam, your score will be calculated immediately and the result will be provided.

Cost of exam | If the exam is taken within 30 days of completing the course, the exam fee is included in the cost of course. If you attempt the exam 30 days after completing the course or retake the exam, there is a fee of USD 50 for each attempt. |

Important: You need to score a minimum of 73% marks in the SASM exam to get your SASM certification, which means you have to answer at least 44 questions out of 60 rightly to qualify for SASM certification. Once you pass the exam with the required marks, you will receive your SASM certification within 5-7 working days.
In case you are not able to score the required percentage on the first attempt, do not be discouraged, You can retake the exam. The second attempt at the exam can be made immediately after the first one while the third needs a 10-day wait. A fourth attempt at taking the SASM test will require a further 30-day wait. Also, please keep in mind that any subsequent retake attempt at the SASM exam after the first attempt will cost you USD 50.
