PMI Salary Survey:

The recent Project Management Institute’s (PMI), 13th edition of the "Earning Power Survey" stated that, on average, PMP® Certified project managers reported a median salary that is 33% higher than non-PMP certified project managers, across the 21 countries surveyed. This makes PMP Certification a powerful tool for professionals to secure high-paying job roles and overcome career stagnation.

The survey highlights many very interesting facts.  It is also of note that approximately two-thirds (66%) of all participants reported an increase in total compensation - salary, bonus, and/or incentives - in the past 12 months. Also 55% of respondents working in the U.S. reported that the PMP certification holders were extremely valuable for their PMP Career Path.

Is PMP certification Worth it?

This PMP course is a highly profitable investment because it can have an unmeasurable impact on the amount earned and the careers they will lead. Let’s take this example: In India, a PMP-certified professional will have an average annual salary of ₹1710000 lakhs annually in 2025. According to the PMI report, getting PMP certified can lead to a 33% salary hike.

You can expect to spend around ₹50,000 including PMP training, study material and exam fee

Let’s calculate the return on investment (ROI):

  • Initial Investment: ₹50,000
  • Annual Salary Before Certification: ₹17,00,000
  • Annual Salary Increase Post-Certification: ₹5,61,000 (33% hike)
  • Net Gain (Year 1): ₹5,61,000 – ₹50,000 = ₹5,11,000

Formula:

  • ROI = [(Annual Gain − Initial Cost) / Initial Cost] × 100
  • ROI = [(₹5,11,000 − ₹50,000) / ₹50,000] × 100 = 1,022%

That means, you earn 10 times more on your initial investment just in one year.

& You are earning 33% more than your previous salary after certification.

Let’s explore: Is PMP® Certification Worth it?
