The Certified Scrum Master (CSM)® Certification process can be divided into two parts. First, you must undergo CSM® certification training and then successfully clear the CSM exam. Upon completing these steps, you will earn the title of Certified ScrumMaster®. Let's now delve into a detailed, step-by-step process to get CSM certification.
Reviewing the Agile Manifesto and the Scrum Guide is optional. Reviewing these documents will help you understand the concepts during the training session. However, there's no need to worry about comprehending the CSM course content in advance, as all concepts will be taught from scratch during the training.
Once you have completed the entire training session, the trainer will update all of your information with the Scrum Alliance, the certified governing body of CSM certification. Therefore, this part is compulsory.
After receiving the updated report from the Certified Scrum Trainer, Scrum Alliance will send the candidates a welcome email containing the CSM exam link. The candidate must click that link to log in to their Scrum Alliance account.
The online exam comprises 50 multiple-choice questions. Candidates must score at least 74% to pass the exam. In that case, a minimum of 37 questions should be answered out of 50 within one hour.
After successfully clearing the exam, candidates must accept the license agreement. Subsequently, they will receive their Certified Scrum Master (CSM) Certification.
The Validity of CSM Certification:
This certification is valid for 2 years. After this period, candidates must pay a renewal fee to Scrum Alliance and submit 20 SEUs to renew their CSM certificate. This comprises the Scrum Alliance CSM Certification process. Candidates can also download their CSM certificate to showcase their skills and accomplishments online.
