You need to earn 30 Professional Development Units (PDUs) every three years and pay the Agile Certified Practitioner Certification renewal cost to maintain your certification. You can earn two types of PDUs: one is education and another is giving back to the industry. You must earn at least 18 PDUs from education and at most 12 PDUs from giving back to the industry. The education PDU has special requirements. You must earn four technical PDUs, four leadership PDUs, four strategic PDUs, and six PDUs in any area. To earn one PDU you must do one hour of work or learning. One PDU is equivalent to one hour of work or learning.
By earning the education PDUs you will be able to sharpen your technical, strategic or leadership, and business management skills. Giving back to the profession means you can mentor others and contribute to this field. You can work as a practitioner and apply the skills you have learned during the certification program. You can create content on agile-related topics, give a presentation, share your knowledge with others, and volunteer for a PMI event.
After earning the required 30 PDUs, have to submit them on PMI's website. You need to pay the Agile Certified Practitioner certification renewal fee of US$ 60 if you are a PMI member and US$ 150 if you are not a PMI member. You won’t need to give the exam again to renew your certification.
Once you complete the PMI-ACP certification renewal process, you will earn back your certification. You should make a schedule to earn all these PDUs within the three-year timeframe. You will see the reflection of your hard work in your career.
The renewal of the PMI-ACP certification is not only necessary to show your Agile Project Management knowledge to prospective employers, but also to stay updated with the new techniques and developments in the field.
