LPM Certification Exam Format

The exam for  SAFe® 6.0 LPM certification is a comprehensive assessment that candidates must pass to earn the SAFe® Lean Portfolio Manager credential.   Exam Attempt & Retake Policy:
  The first exam attempt is included in the course fee, and participants should take it within 60 days of course completion. For a second attempt, they have to pay a retake fee.
  First retake: Available immediately after the first failed attempt
  Second retake: Available 10 days after the first retake
  Third retake: Available 30 days after the second retake
  Additional retakes: Require a 30-day waiting period between attempts.

Establishing Investment Funding – 16–18%

This is one of the highest-weighted domains. Topics include lean budget guardrails, strategic portfolio review, portfolio sync, participatory budgeting, and value stream budgets.

Managing Portfolio Flow – 16–18%

Another high-weighted domain, this section assesses portfolio flow using Portfolio Kanban and prioritizing Epic implementation through Weighted Shortest Job First (WSJF).

Applying Agile Portfolio Operations – 12–14%

Candidates should understand value stream coordination, agile release train (ART) execution, and operational excellence. This domain focuses on coordinating portfolio-level activities to support effective execution.

Applying Lean Governance – 8–10%

7 . Is the first SAFe LPM Certification Exam attempt included in the course fee?
 Yes. Lean Portfolio Management is an Advanced SAFe certification, and the first exam attempt is included in the course registration fee when taken within 60 days of course completion. Candidates requiring additional attempts must purchase a retake, subject to Scaled Agile’s applicable retake policy.

8 . Can I retake the SAFe LPM exam if I do not pass on my first attempt?
 Yes. Candidates can retake the SAFe LPM exam after an unsuccessful first attempt. The current retake fee is $50. The first retake is available immediately, while subsequent attempts have waiting periods of 10 days and then 30 days, with 30-day intervals applying thereafter.
